Connecting at Los Angeles
Air New Zealand operates from Terminal B at the Los Angeles International Airport. If you're connecting with another airline, you may need to change terminals.
If you're arriving on an international flight, you need to clear US Customs checkpoints before entering the United States and collect your baggage (even if you're in transit and have connecting flights).
- 1
Arriving at Los Angeles International Airport
On arrival, make your way to Immigration.
If you arrive at the Tom Bradley International Terminal West Gates and need to get to the main Tom Bradley International Terminal, make your way through the pedestrian tunnel which is a 15-minute walk.
- 2
Collecting baggage (all passengers, including transit or transfers)
Once you've been through Immigration, make your way to the baggage claim area on Level 1 to collect your baggage (even if it has been through-checked to your final destination).
Display screens will indicate which baggage carousel is assigned to your flight.
- 3
Baggage inspection
When you've collected your baggage, make your way to the US Customs & Agriculture processing area on Level 1 for a baggage inspection.
If your final destination is Los Angeles, you can leave through the arrivals hall after clearing Customs.
- 4
Connecting flights or transfers
If you have a connecting flight and your baggage has been through-checked to your final destination, you can drop your baggage off at the transfer desk to the right as you leave the arrivals hall. Then make your way to your connecting airline's terminal.
If you have a connecting flight and your baggage has not been through-checked to your final destination, make your way to your connecting airline's terminal with your baggage and recheck it before heading through security.
- 5
Connecting between terminals
You can use the complimentary airport shuttle bus to travel between terminals. To catch the bus, make your way outside through the arrivals area and look for the blue 'LAX Shuttle & Airline Connections' sign. The shuttle is white, blue and green, has a large letter 'A' painted on it and runs every 10 minutes.
If you want to walk between terminals, follow the signage and use the pedestrian tunnel or the above-ground walkway. Terminals 4–8 are all connected by a passage between Terminal 4 and the Tom Bradley International Terminal.

Departing from Los Angeles International Airport
If you're connecting through Los Angeles from Air Canada or a US domestic flight to Air New Zealand and your baggage has been through-checked to your final destination, you do not need to collect your baggage on arrival. Make your way to your departure terminal.
If your baggage hasn't been through-checked to your final destination, collect your baggage from the baggage claim area on arrival and make your way to the Air New Zealand check-in area on Level 1 of the Tom Bradley International Terminal.
